Get to know the crater of the Izalco volcano at an altitude of 1950 meters above sea level. Going through 1500 steps through the forest of Cerro Verde, a type of mountain forest under perennial subtropical humidity until you reach the base of the volcano where you will appreciate a volcano complete with volcanic basalt and you will be able to appreciate its salidified lava flows from its last eruptive period, being the youngest volcano in El Salvador.
When you reach its summit you will have the experience of being in a completely conical volcano, having the facility to surround its crater and witness and feel the heat of the fumaroles which are the natural vents of the volcano that show that it is an active volcano.
- The duration of the hike is approximately 5 hours, an incline of 45 degrees.
- And a medium difficulty, having a difference in altitude of 350 meters from Cerro Verde to the base of the volcano and 300 meters from the base to the chasm of the volcano.
